The Right to Vote: Joe’s Crab Shack Offers Consumers Alternative Candidate for This Year’s Election
Nominees for Joe’s Ticket to Battle It Out on the Election Ballot
HOUSTON (Oct. 1, 2008) — In a heated presidential campaign, Joe’s Crab Shack is giving voters the right to choose beyond a donkey or an elephant, with the option to vote for a crab. Starting September 29, Joe’s is asking diners to mark the ballot for their favorite crab – Snow or Dungeness. To spice it up even more, consumers can customize their crab with any of the following conservative or
liberal flavors: Steamed, Spicy Boil, Chesapeake, Garlic Herb, BBQ, Fire Grilled or the New Chipotle.
In Joe’s election, everyone gets a chance to vote; consumers do not have to be 18 years of age – or registered. In addition to the super sweet Snow crab or the mild and tender Dungeness crab selections, Joe’s will offer patriotic red, white and blue drink specials, including a Strawberry Daiquiri, Frozen Margarita and Blue Curacao Float. At each of its 115 locations, campaign yard signs will help designate
the Joe’s polling locations available to voters.
“This year’s election is a major event for our country, and we wanted to share in the patriotism and energy of Americans by offering our customers a ballot for a chance to make a change at Joe’s,” said Ray Blanchette, CEO of Joe’s Crab Shack. “We trust the American people to make a decision that’s best for our country and the future of crabs at Joe’s.”
As the battle between crabs heats up, consumers can get the latest polling information on Joe’s Web site with up‐to‐the‐minute results until November 9. The winner will be designated “America’s Favorite Crab.”
